Clara Loomis passed on to her heavenly home on May 30, 2011. She was born on September 8, 1912, to John Weiks and Ethel Rutledge Weiks, longtime pioneer family members of the Littlerock, WA area. Her father died in a drowning accident on the Black River when Clara was two. Her mother kept the family together taking care of children, moving several times. Ethel married a single father of three children in her care. Clara attended different schools, graduating from Olympia H.S. After graduating she married Leonard Thompson. They lived in Puyallup and the settled in the Chehalis area. This was the time of the Great Depression so Leonard was gone much of the time seeking work as a printer. There was now a son and daughter in the home to keep Clara busy. Leonard died of a heart attack while working in Oregon. The family moved to Tenino where Clara found work. Her sister, Myrtle, came to care for the children. After sometime, Clara met and married Bill Loomis. The family moved to Offut Lake. During this time they owned the Tumwater Food Lockers in which Clara worked. When they sold the Lockers, Clara went to work for the State of Washington as an accountant. She retired from the State. Bill had a stroke when working with his irrigation business so they sold the home at Offut Lake, buying a condo at Vista Village in Lacey. Clara was an avid reader, working in the library at Vista Village. She loved to write letters and embroidery. Many in the family have pillow cases she embroidered. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, brothers, John Weiks, Lawrence and Ronald Granstrom; sister, Myrtle Wrights, son Leon Thompson; a grandson, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors include her daughter, Joy Bush, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The services for remembrance are on June 11: graveside 11:00 a.m. at Mills & Mills Memorial Park on Littlerock Rd; memorial 1:00 p.m. at Lacey Presbyterian Church on Carpenter Rd. If you have a favorite dessert you would like to share, please bring it to the church. Clara loved her sweets. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Lacey Presbyterian Church of which Clara was a charter member.
