Cheryl Dione Alexander passed away June 9th, 2011 in Hospice of Northeast Florida after a seven year battle with cancer. She was born June 20th, 1945 and was a life long resident of Jacksonville. To know Momma, as she was affectionately called, was to know the epitome of a genteel southern woman. Kind of heart, genuinely supportive and elegant, Cheryl was the first one, in spite of her own adversity to lend an ear or a hand
when someone was in need. Although her character was challenged by the severity
of her cancer, she never lost her unwavering faith in God. She possessed a strength and dignity unsurpassed, showing that even in the face of a terminal diagnosis, her will to live life to it's fullest on her own terms. The precious beauty of her soul will live on through the lives of the many people she touched with her unique way of seeing the world.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Cheryl is survived by her loving son Brian, "adopted" daughters Angie Davis and Cheyenne Milner, several sisters, nieces and nephews, a multitude of friends and "adopted" sons and daughters,
as well as the members of Squad Seven, 501st legion.
Family will receive friends on Friday, 6-8 PM at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073 and funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at Englewood Christian Church, 4316 Barnes Rd, Jacksonville, FL.
