She was born on March 9, 1947 in Indianapolis to Albert Whiteman and Virginia Kerr Whiteman.
Ellen served her country in the National Guard. She had been employed at Indianapolis Printing Company, was a member of the Women of The Moose, and most importantly she was a caregiver.
Her parents; a brother, Tim Whiteman; and a son, Nathan McGown; an Aunt Pauline; grandmother Pearl preceded her in death.
Surviving are her family, Trena Miller and fiancée Ernie Nicholson, Billy Joe Hurin and wife Linda, Buffy Slack, Teresa Seindsticker and family, Bill Whiteman and wife, Ronnie Whiteman and wife Kay, Liz Ferguson and husband Raleigh, Denna McGown and husband Cletus, Wanda Whiteman and Pat Gilmore; Donna Friend, Denver Stone Family, Ashley Miller and Brandon Albright and children Jaylen and Kierra, Justin Miller and Barbie Dowling and son Steve, Jerry Miller, Rick Robinson, Kathy Robinson, Jeremy Harl and family, Tony Harl and family; Bill and Nancy Wheatcraft and family; Michael Dale; Kelly, Scott and Billy Whiteman; Tonda, Coty, Michael, and Justin McGowan; Chad Hurin, Breanna Hurin, Shane Hurin, Chelsea Slack, Selina Slack, Josh McGown; several nieces, nephews and extended family members; close friends, Sharon Neighbarger, Mary Sullivan, Thelma Whiteman; and her beloved dogs, Grizzly, Sara and Squeaker.
A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 1 P.M. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home. A Women of The Moose service will be conducted at 12 noon at the funeral home on Friday.
