Robert “Bob” Alexander, 89, of El Dorado passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at his residence. He was born on January 10, 1922, to Robert Loring Alexander and Mary Ella Foley Alexander in Montrose, Mississippi.
Bob was a WWII veteran and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated at the top of his class at Ole Miss with a degree in Accounting and was licensed to practice in Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana. He went in to partnership with J. Frank McWilliams in the mid 50’s and went in to public practice as an individual practitioner in the mid 60’s. In 1983, he went in to partnership with Nathan P. Evers and formed Alexander & Evers, CPA’s. He retired from public practice in 1989 and took senior status but continued to maintain and office with the firm of Evers, Cox & Gober until his death. He was a member of the American Institute, Arkansas Society and Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and hunter of deer, ducks, quail, pheasant, elk, and moose, a gun collector and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Alice V. Alexander; and sisters, Ruth Thompson, Kate Parks, and Lucille Penland.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Herring and her husband Frank of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Alison Herring of Dallas, TX, Elizabeth Williams and her husband Nathan of Memphis, TN, and Robert Herring of Little Rock; great grandchildren, Joseph and Kenneth Williams of Memphis, TN; niece Margaret Mallard; and nephews, Bob Parks, Alex Parks, and Robert Penland.
A private graveside service was held for Mr. Alexander and public memorial service to honor his life will be held at a later date.
