Gilbert Collins Andrews died peacefully July 9, 2011 at the age of 93. He was born June 19, 1918 in Oil City, PA to Albert H. Andrews and Stella E. Collins. He enlisted in the Army December 1, 1941. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged November 1948. He was a police officer for the city of Lake Worth from 1948 to 1965 and was voted The Most Courteous Policeman in the State of Florida in 1952. He was a resident of Lake Worth for over 60 years.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his wives, Virginia Perry and Ruth Ford, brother, Paul Andrews and
sister Florence Andrews.He will be missed by his sons: David (Christel), Duane (Opal), Darlynn (Delores) and Douglas (Diane); 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held Friday July 15, 2011 starting at 2:00, with viewing from 1:00 – 2:00 at the funeral home.
