Williamston
A wonderful husband, father and grandfather was born April 23, 1926, in Webberville; died July 21, 2011, at the age of 85. Jay was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, owned and operated Alford Asphalt for many years and was a sales representative for Moormans Feed serving many area farmers. He was a member of the American Legion Post #296, Williamston, which he proudly helped construct, and enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, hunting, singing and telling jokes. Jay loved having a wonderful time with family and friends at Wixom Waters and traveling to Texas and Mexico, where they had many great times. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theron and Julia Alford, and sister, Caroline Hafer. Surviving are his wife, Alyce; daughter, Jayle (Brian) Caprara; son, Bryce (Melissa) Alford; grandchildren, Austin and Allie Alford, Jacob Smith, Chris, Ben and Mackenzie Caprara. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Middle St., Williamston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Legion Post #296, P.O.
