Maria Concetta was born on March 25, 1914 in Limina, Sicily, Italy the daughter of Paulo and Maria Costa. She married Filippo Ardizzone in February 1938. She then started her journey to America leaving Sicily on August 4, 1938 and setting sail from Naples on August 9, 1938. Arriving in New York City, the city where dreams are made, in the land of opportunity. She settled in the Upper East Side and started a family having two beautiful children, Anita and Alex. Together they built a wonderful life for four generations.
Maria, or Nonna as she was known by many lived a long healthy life. She traveled near and far, from San Diego to Alaska to all around her home country of Italy, ate and cooked the best Italian food, taught her family and friends lessons about life that they will never forget. She has found the key to Paradiso. May she rest in peace. Buon viaggio Nonna. Ci rivedremo. We love you so much.
