George Anthony, 76, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully after a long illness on August 22, 2011 with his wife of 57 years Doris, at his side. He was born in Holly Ridge, MS on November 1, 1934. He proudly served in the United States Army 382nd Military Police Battalion, Company A, Occupation Forces in Heidelberg, Germany from 1954 – 1957. SP3 Anthony received the National Defense Medal, Germany Occupation Medal and a Good Conduct Medal, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1957. George was a Teamster Driver with Local 104 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was a member of the Thunderbird Masonic Lodge #15 and a loyal Sun Devil fan. George is survived by his wife, Doris; sons Dennis (Tonya) and Stanley (Sheila); grandchildren Ryan, Lavada, Drew, and Brandon; and great-grandchildren Emily, Julie, and Braydon. Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather will be remembered for his work ethic, love of sports, wry wit, and his love of travel.
