Charles Richard “Charlie” Allred, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Moses Cone Hospital. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Gray’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery on Hwy. 22 South in Franklinville, NC.
Charlie was born on July 24, 1926 in Siler City, NC, the son of Charlie and Ollie Allred. He graduated from Siler City High School. He served his country in the US Army during WWII serving in the Combat Infantry in Italy. This past May, Charlie finally received his “Welcome Home” by being able to be on the “Flight of Honor” to the WW II Memorial in Washington, D.C. After his service, he graduated from King Business College. He worked with Lambeth Construction Company as Office Manager until his retirement.
Charlie was known as “Charlie of Forest Oaks.” He was an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils football and basketball and a member of the Iron Dukes. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. Charlie was awarded a lifetime membership atf Forest Oaks Country Club.
Charlie is survived by his loving sister, Rachel Colleen Allred of Greensboro, NC and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
