Ionia V Bailey, 94 of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2011. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Having lived a life full of zest and energy, she owned and maintained her home until she fell victim to a life ending stroke. She was born September 25th, 1917 to Arthur and Iona Nebe, in Quincy, IL. In 1941, she married Frank (Ed) Bailey of Moberly, Mo who preceded her in death in 1985. She moved to Salt Lake City Utah in 1952, Overland Park, Kansas in 1965 and her home in Sun City in 1979. Ionia is survived by her children Douglas E. and Gregory W, her grand children Nicole Bailey-Schnitzer, Weston and Noel Bailey and her great grand children Ryan and Kendra Schnitzer and Sophie, Isabel and Landon Bailey, one sister Vivian and one bother Raymond. She married Howard Toepfer in 1987 and enjoyed travel and golf until his death in 1997. Ionia was a charter member of Union Hills Country Club, in Sun City, AZ until March of 2011. She attended the American Lutheran Church in Sun City. A viewing and service were held at the Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson, Texas on October 8th at 10:00 A.M., with a memorial service at her final resting place in Sun City, AZ at a later date.
