Roberta A. Acquaviva of Raleigh passed away on October 7, 2011. Ms.Acquaviva, a recent arrival to Raleigh, was a 55-year member of the nursing profession, and was widely respected for her contributions to nursing and to nurse practitioners.
Born in Binghamton, New York, Ms. Acquaviva received her early nurse’s training at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Lemoyne College in Syracuse, NY, and obtained her graduate education at Boston College. She was a leader in the field of emergency nursing, and taught in the nurse practitioner program at the University of Colorado in Denver. She also had long experience in medical reimbursement, and was the Director of Risk Management at Georgetown University Medical Center.
She is survived by four siblings, Lauren M. Acquaviva of Bethesda, MD, Francis A. Acquaviva of Raleigh, NC, Margaret A. Cerio of Camillus, NY, and Eleanor A. Davis of Raleigh: and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Ms. Acquaviva will be held on October 16th at 5:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary’s St, Raleigh, NC.
