George Cooper passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 20, 2011. He was born on April 25, 1922 in Renton, Washington. Following graduation from Renton High School, he served in the U. S. Navy as a medical corpsman aboard the USS Fayette throughout the World War II Pacific D-Day and S-Day campaigns. Following his military service, he had a successful 40 year career in the food industry. He was a member of the Renton Lions Club and the Renton Chamber of Commerce and served on that chamber’s Board of Directors from 1958 through 1960 and was its President in 1959. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mildred Cooper and four children; his daughters Penny L. Waldorf of Boise, ID, and Roxanne L. Cooper of Bonney Lake, WA, and his sons George T. Cooper Jr. of Des Moines, WA, and David A. Cooper of Mt. Vernon, WA as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his family, travel to Hawaii, model railroading, woodworking and clock building. He was a good friend and supporter of many and will be dearly missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
