BLACKMORE, Edna Eileen Maude (nee Rose); Born on Bell Island, Newfoundland on May 23, 1934. Predeceased by parents Archibald and Susie Rose, siblings Lloyd (Evelyn) Rose, Wallace (Carrie) Rose, William (Bertha) Rose, Fred (Monique) Rose, Pearl (Kevin) Hammond, Anne (William) Blackmore, Beulah (Walter) Blackmore, Enid (Freeman) King, and cherished son-in-law Graham Masson. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Arthur Blackmore, children Karen (John) Good, Arthur and Ronald Blackmore all of Cambridge. Nanny will live on through her grandchildren Tara (Jake) Westlake, Heather (Sean Penhale) Masson, her great-grandchildren and greatest joys Eden and Hunter Westlake, newest joy Mya Penhale, and sisters-in-law Cecila Blackmore and Mina Blackmore. Mom turned off the porch lights and returned home with her parents, brothers and sisters on October 28, 2011 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Diabetes and Heart Disease. A life-long member of the Newfoundland Club, Mom was known for her squares and sandwiches. She was often seen behind the counter of the club running the kitchen for special events, catering to funerals of friends gone by. Running Tuesday night cards (no matter how sick she was on Monday), she always made a recovery on Tuesday. She will be remembered lovingly by many nieces and nephews, her Newfoundland Club family, special friends and neighbours. Everyone she knew experienced her kindness and generosity. Special thanks to those that spent time with Mom in the last year, your thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated. Our family has lost its matriarch, none can replace her. We love you Mom. As requested by Mom, cremation has taken place. Donations made to your favourite charity would be greatly appreciated. A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Mom’s life will be held at the Newfoundland Club at a later date. All of Mom’s friends and family will be welcome at that time to share stories and memories of time spent together. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to T. Little Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Cambridge (519-623-1290).
