Andes, Herman Lee, age 73, beloved husband of Judy Perkins Andes, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at his home with Judy and his children by his side. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, and “Poppy” who was a blessing to his family and friends. He graduated from Sevier County High School. He was general manager of the Bausch and Lomb Optical for many years, before opening Andes Optical in 1978 with his wife, Judy, where they worked side-by-side until his retirement in 2010. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Knox Andes; his mother, Mary Wisecarver Andes Tarwater; and his brother, Jack Andes. He is survived by the Love of His Life, Judy Perkins Andes. They would have been married 50 years on December 23, 2011. He is also survived by his three children, Faith Andes McDaniel and husband, Doug; James Rodney Andes; and Yvette Hope Purgason and husband, Chris; six grandchildren, Jacob Knox McDaniel, Grace Anne Purgason, Emma Rose Purgason, Ruby Kate Purgason, Maggie Jude Purgason, and Joseph Daniel Purgason. In addition, he is survived by his 2 sisters and spouses, Louella and Frank Miller and Billie Jo and Earl Carr; many beloved nieces and nephews. Herman was a true testament of faith, loyalty, goodness and love for his family and God. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Seven Islands Cemetery, Rev Joel Rood officiating.
