Edward J. Bednorz, age 82, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011. He was born January 15, 1929 in Victoria to the late Edward and Lorene Angerstein Bednorz. He grew up in Schroeder, and graduated from Patti Welder High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Edward worked for Central Power & Light for over 35 years and retired as a Foreman in 1988. Anyone who knew him knew of his great love of cars and working on them. It was a passion beyond compare.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Weber Bednorz; six sons, Michael and wife Christina, Nick, John and wife Krista, Joe, Robert and wife Nancy, all of Houston, and Douglas of Sacramento, California; brother, Bruce Bednorz of Schroeder; and nine grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Clark Bednorz.
Visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, November 11, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home in Victoria. The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Schroeder. There will be an open casket starting at 9:30 AM before the service.
Graveside Services will follow at Coletoville Cemetery with full military honors under Auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV.Serving as pallbearers will be his sons.
Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Bednorz, Sr., Bruce Michael Bednorz, Jr., and Marjie Bednorz.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Schoreder, Texas.
