His love Bettye June (Davis) Weare, his parents Henry and Hattie Weare, a son James Donovan Weare, his brothers Edgar, Arthur, and Roy Weare, his sisters Elizabeth Argo and Sarah Knapp, preceded him in death.
He is survived by siblings Virgil Weare and Ruth Pruitt, children Rachel Lee King (Ron), Joe Emerson Weare, Robert Allen Weare (Amber), William Morris Weare (Sharon), Jon Karl Weare, and Michael Shane Weare, 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Robert attended the first five years of school at Idlewild, a one-room school near De Valls Bluff, AR and graduated from De Valls Bluff High School in May 1944. After graduation, he served in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Enterprise and was discharged July 17, 1946. After his service, he graduated from the U. of A. with a degree in Agriculture.
Our father spent some years teaching in Arkansas public schools, and a lifetime teaching his children, and anyone willing to listen, facts about plants and nutrition. He worked many jobs and mowed lawns right up to his death, but his lifelong passion was spreading the Good News of Jesus and His salvation for humanity. Dad always had his eyes on some distant achievement as he sought the elusive feeling of doing something great for God. All the while, he lived a life of humble service, free from prejudice, preaching his most important sermons through his dedication to God and compassion for others. He found a loving family at the Central Christian church who cared for him as freely as he cared for others and for that grace, we are thankful to God. Dad’s legacy lives in the people he served; I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited me in… Well done Dad, well done.
There will be a memorial service at 10 AM November 19, at the Central Christian Community church, 400 N. Waldron Road, Fort Smith, AR. Donations in Dad’s memory can be made to the Central church missions’ fund. Cremation and services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
