Mary Louise Ayala, 84, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1066 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The family requests contributions to Hospice Care of Kansas or St. Luke’s Community Ministry Fund.
Mary Lou was born May 8, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas to Apolinar and Petra Aguliara Luna. She was a lifelong area resident, and for 27 years, she was a toll collector for the Kansas Turnpike Authority, where she retired in 1994. Mary Lou was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Bernardo M. Ayala and her grandson Jeffrey Paul Andrews, her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Mary Lou is survived by her sister Geraldine Ochoa of Walnut Creek, CA; her daughter Carmelita “Jody” Ayala (John) of Kansas City, Kansas; her son Steven Ayala, Kansas City Kansas, and his children Rebecca Reddin, Jennifer Lowry, Christine Ingram; her daughter Rita Anderson (Tim) of Kansas City, Kansas, and their children Nicholas Anderson, Jacob Anderson and Corbin Anderson; her daughter Anita Ford (Pat) of Emporia, Kansas, and their children Katy Shull, Alec Ford and Sean Ford; her daughter Christine May (Steve) of the home, and their children Bernie May and Maddy May; and eleven great grandchildren.
Mary Lou loved gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a breath of fresh air and made the world a brighter place.
