Markham Ernest Berry, age 61, of 19 Forest Meadow, Rome passed away at a local hospital Wednesday December 7, 2011. Mr. Berry was born on January 31, 1950 in Villa Rica, Georgia, son of the late Dr. Lowry Berry, Sr. and Sara Pinkston Berry.
Mr. Berry was a 1968 graduate of Darlington School, Rome, Georgia. He graduated from West Georgia College, Carrollton, Georgia in 1976 and was employed by West Georgia National Bank and Citizens Bank of Gwinnett. He served on the Alumni council of Darlington School and was a board member of Habitat for Humanity in Rome. He also volunteered with the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Berry was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge of Villa Rica.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Culpepper Berry of Rome; two sons: Kyle Markham Berry of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Max Robert Berry of Rome; three daughters Sara Joyce Berry of Rome, Lauren Allison Berry of LaGrange, Georgia, Karen Berry Farmer and her husband, Troy Mason Farmer of Columbus, Ohio; and one grandson Landon William Farmer.
Also surviving is one brother, Robert Lowry Berry and his wife Barbara Morrison (Bambi) Berry of Rome, and two nieces: Lowry Berry Harrington and Natalie Berry Murphy.
Following a private burial at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, a memorial service will be conducted Saturday December 10, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Rome with Dr. Joel Snider and the Reverend Scott Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary immediately following the 1:00 service.
Those serving as Pallbearers are Kip Berry, Ran Berry, Jere Jones, Bruce Jones, John McCanless and Bob Haarlow. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Darlington School, 1014 Cave Spring Road, Rome, Georgia 30161.
