Hudson, Mae Adkinson Norton Moncrief, 97, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Percy B. Norton, Charles E. “Red” Moncrief and Clayton D. Hudson, also her sons, James L. Norton and Francis A. Moncrief and grandson, Michael Norton. She is survived by her children, Anne Norton Weldon, Jean Moncrief Umstead, Phillip A. Moncrief (Linda), Susan Moncrief Richardson (Marvin) and Viola Hudson Ludden Marsh, fifteen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren. She was a charter member of Dalraida United Methodist Church which started in her home in 1950 and opened Moncrief’s Madison Avenue Day Nursery, the first daycare in Montgomery, in 1956. She was a Past Queen of Alphurah Temple No. 126, Daughters of the Nile and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a beloved and revered Mother, Grandmother, Memaw and Nana; to her family, her most important achievement and will be missed dearly and thought of daily. A Celebration of her life will be held at Dalraida United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 2:00, the Rev. Ed Deabler officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Visitation will begin after the morning worship service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery on Monday, December 12, 2011. The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice, her dedicated and loving nurse, Angela Smith and God’s “angels” Pamela and Sheila Tolliver for the love and care they showed her everyday.
