Alfred Edwin Arkell, 85 of Homosassa, FL died Fri., Jan. 6, 2012 at Hospice House of Citrus County in Lecanto. He was born April 4, 1926 in Portsmouth, NH, son of the late Charles E. and Freda M. (Tully) Arkell He graduated from Central High Scholl of Bridgeport in 1943 and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport in 1951. He retired as an Data Control Coordinator for Philips Medical Systems in Shelton, CT. Mr. Arkell was a Navy veteran of WWII, member St Benedict Catholic Church of Crystal River, Citrus Neighbor Hood Watch, American Legion Post 155, VFW Post 8189 and also enjoyed fishing.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 60 years Norma F. Arkell of Homosassa; sons Kenneth C. (Lisa) Arkell of Charlestown, NH and James A. (Dianna) Arkell of Homosassa; daughter Judith A. Ozment of Homosassa; brother Thomas R. Arkell of Brentwood, NH; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am, Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at St Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. Ryszard Stradomski celebrant. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3 pm until 5 pm, Wednesday at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs, FL. In lieu of Flowers donations may be given to Hospice of Citrus County, 3264 W. Audubon Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
