Anne was born, the fifth of seven children to William B and Mary E Butler in Oneonta on September 8, 1958. Anne passed peacefully in her sleep of complications from Diabetes and pneumonia. Anne attended St. Mary’s School and Oneonta High School, graduating in 1976. She then went on to Trinity College in Burlington, VT, with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Gerontology.
After graduating, Anne headed to California where she worked many years in Adult Healthcare industry where she became a licensed Hospital Administrator. Anne was very active and involved in the community wherever she lived. She had a love of life and when she walked into a room she instantly lit up the room and you just knew Anne was there and wanted people to smile and have fun. She lived life to its fullest and put everything she had into anything she worked on.
Anne was a master in the kitchen creating just about anything from whatever she had in the cupboards. At a young age she won first place in The Daily Star cooking contest. She was an avid guitarist and musician. Anne’s dedication to taking care of the elderly was her true passion.
Anne had a very special friend in her life, Toby. Toby is a Puggle (cross between a Pug and Beagle). Toby mirrored Anne’s personality in the fact that he was larger than life for such a small dog. Anne trained him and he is certified in the State of California as a Licensed Therapy Dog. Toby accompanied Anne every day to the hospital where she worked in Fair Oaks, CA. She was so proud of him and is loved by patients and her staff as well.
Anne was predeceased by her father William B Butler and brothers, Michael Patrick Butler and Stephen W. Butler. Surviving are; her mother, Mary E Butler, Oneonta, NY. Her brother, John F and Evelyn Butler, Oshkosh, WI and their twin children Jackie and Andy. Her sister Mary E. Vamosy and husband Joe and their sons Patrick and Ryan, also in Oshkosh, WI. Her sister Patricia and husband Eric Shields, Morris, NY and her daughter Aubrey Fowler, Oneonta, NY. Her brother Michael D and Kelly Ann Butler, Oneonta. Also surviving are her very dearest friends of many years, Kim and Marco Lucich and their sons Marco IV, Lucca and Noah, also of Fair Oaks, CA.
Anne so loved life and living it to the fullest. She was so very proud of not only her dog Toby but so very proud of her nieces and nephews. Any time she saw them she’d rather spend time talking with them than talking with their parents. She bragged about their accomplishments to anyone and everyone as she was so proud of them.
There will be no calling hours and there will be a Mass and Christian Burial at the convenience of the family in the spring.
Anyone wishing to may make a donation to either the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820 or the pet shelter of their choice. Anne would have wanted it that way.
