JOYCE LARRAINE BAKER, age 72, went home to be with our Lord on January 31, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at the Trinity Baptist Hospice House in Collierville,TN. She was born October 6, 1939 in Richford, Vermont to the late Hazel and Henry Marshia. In 2008, she moved to Tennessee and made her home in Piperton, TN. A spiritual woman, Joyce was a faithful Catholic and long time member of Church of the Nativity in Swanton, Vermont. Until her illness, Joyce rarely missed attended mass and knelt every evening to say her prayers. During her illness, she anxiously awaited each Wednesday and Sunday for a visit by the minister of Holy Communion. She loved to read her scriptures each day and prayed for everyone that she cherished in her lifetime. Joyce also devoted her life to her family, many loving friends, and her community. She loved being involved with family activities, Catholic ministries, camping and travel, preparing incredible meals for her extended family, and visiting all those in need of a warm hug or kind words. There was never a time when she wasn’t there for someone in need. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 54 years, Edward Robert Baker; a son, Steven; a daughter-in-law, Judy; a son, Scott; daughter-in-law, Lisa, and six grandchildren, Christina, Megan, Kyle, Kody, Hunter and Mason. Services for Joyce will be held in Swanton, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Trinity Hospice House, 1520 West Poplar Ave., Collierville, TN 38017.
