He then continued his education at the Poly Technic Institute of Technology at Baher Dar, Ethiopia. After graduation, he became a teacher for two years at Awasa High school.
Fekadu then got a scholarship and came to the United States. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Warren Wilson College and his Master’s degree in Physics at North Carolina Central University. He also earned his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University. He worked for thirteen years for Carolina Power and Light Company (presently Progress Energy) as a senior engineer, before he was laid off.
Science was Fekadu’s fascination and he loved to talk about the subject every time he had the opportunity.
Fekadu is survived by his wife, Ellenie; sister, Zenebework; nieces and nephews, Hanna, Saba, Daniel and Teddy.
Fekadu will be loved and missed by his family and his friends.
A funeral service will be held 11am Monday, March 5, 2012 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Road, Cary.
