A memorial service will he held at 11 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, Georgia on March 10, 2012. A private interment will follow the service according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.
Paul Eugene Lippmann was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 13, 1925, the youngest son of Weston Roy and Agnes MacGlashan Lippmann. He attended St. Elmo Elementary School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1944. He was drafted into the US Army and served as a Combat Infantryman in the European Theater of Operations,103rd Infantry “Cactus” Division as a heavy machine gunner.
He attended Mercer University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church for 62 years as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of the Sunday School and member of the Vestry where he served many times as Junior and Senior Warden.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Edwin Joseph and John Henry. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Hariot Rogers Lippmann; Daughters Susan Rogers Lippmann of Columbus and Sara Ann “Sally” Lippmann Jones (Robert W. Jr.) of Thomson, GA. his grandchildren Anna Mitchell “Mitchi” Wade (Travis) and Thomas Fredrick “Mac” McKnight, Jr of Columbus. Laura Duggan Jones Elsarelli (Rich) of Cornelia, GA. Margaret Anne “Meg” Jones Begnaud (Will) of Bogart, GA. Hariot Kathleen “Katie” Jones Bryant (Patrick) of Athens, GA. and Robert Winton “Tripp” Jones III of Thomson, GA. Great-grandchildren Ruth “Ruthie” McKnight Wade and Martha Mitchell Wade of Columbus, Rhys Paul Whitlock and Hunter James Elsarelli of Cornelia, GA
The family will be at 1806 Stark Ave to receive visitors from 5pm-to 7pm on Friday, March 9,2012.
