CPT (Ret) Robert “Bob” Agro, age 65, resident of Columbus, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside services with full military honors are scheduled at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama on Monday, March 19, 2012, 1 p.m. with Chaplain Paul Voorhees officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the residence on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2-6 p.m. Mr. Agro, son of the late Alfonzo Agro and Mary Liuzzo Agro, was born September 7, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era Conflict. During his distinguished military career, he was awarded both the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He was Catholic by faith, enjoyed both hunting and fishing, had coached youth soccer (both five and under and seventeen and under), and also Boy Scout Leader, Troup 100. Mr. Agro is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Agro of Columbus; one daughter, Gina Agro of Charleston, South Carolina; one son, Robert Agro of Columbus; one sister, Maria Agro of Hollywood, Florida; one brother, Richard Agro and his wife Joann of Hollywood, Florida; one granddaughter, Gianna Marie of Charleston, South Carolina; two uncles, John Liuzzo and Peter Liuzzo, both of New York; other relatives and friends.
