Cleland C. Miller, 83, passed away March 18, 2012, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Oto, Iowa, January 2, 1929. He served in the US Navy for 20 years, his service spanning both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a permanently appointed Chief Petty Officer in 1968. He returned to Sioux City, Iowa where he worked for Iowa Beef Packers and later as chief electrician for Sioux City Hospital before moving to Arizona in 1973. He worked for 17 years as an electrician for Phoenix Baptist Hospital and later served as a courtesy clerk for Safeway and Fry's grocery stores in the Phoenix area. He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth William and Elva Jane (Conley) Miller, his sister Patsy Ruth, his first wife Evelyn (Dries) and his daughter Karen. He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Reich) Miller of Avondale, Arizona, his daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Jay Willoz of Kenner, Louisiana, his son and daughter-in-law Tom and Jaymie Miller of Tempe, Arizona and his grandson Rene Miller of Louisiana. He is also survived by six brothers Tom, Kenneth, Gene, David, Bill, and Paul, two sisters Mary Jane Von Haden and Waivie Griegg and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona State Braille and Talking Book Library, 1030 North 32nd Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85008-5195. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301. Visitation will be Friday, March 23rd from 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 24th at 10:30 AM at the West Resthaven Chapel. Rev. Kim Gladding, Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church of Glendale, will officiate.
