November 1, 1979 – March 24, 2012
Gary Leo Abbott was born November 1, 1979, at the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. He moved with his family at the age of two to Fruita, Colorado where he remained until his passing. Gary attended kindergarten through high school in Fruita. Graduating from Fruita Monument after 5 years often telling people he had so much fun he wanted to stay. Gary married his best friend, Sadinia Goering, on August 11, 2001, in Unaweep Canyon. They started their married life in a one bedroom apartment in Papa Butches shop, soon moving to Fruita and purchasing their first home. As their family grew with the addition of son Kaeden and daughter Kenda as well has their hobbies, the house needed to as well. They would spend seven years in their next house before recently building the house of their dreams, that had enough room for all the “toys”, Gary was employed as Operations Manager at Roustabout Specialties, Inc., for most of his career. A position that he enjoyed making many friends along the way “30” will be greatly missed. Gary was a fun loving, entergetic guy, andthe life of the party. He had a strong presence and unique sense of humor. He loved his family and friends and always seemed to have some special event or activity planned, whether it was an outing or bbq he was quite the “Grillmaster”. Spending time on the golf course became a routine and he soon started giving “lessons”. Lake Powell held a special fondness and he enjoyed pulling Kaeden on the tube, Kenda on the wakeboard and kneeboard, and Sadinia on her skis, as well as any poor, unfortunate victim who dared the “adult” ride on the tube. His obsession for hunting poured over onto others and he quickly recruited quite the hunting party. He loved taking his beloved Labs, Chester and Remi( short for Winchester and Remington) pheasant hunting and they rarely missed a Lake Powell Trip as they are quite the water dogs. There was no mistaking they are a part of the family. Gary followed the Rockies religiously and took his family to many games. This became a favorite family activity. Gary never met a stranger and always had a smile, a hug, or shared a laugh with everyone he knew. Gary will be missed sorely. He played his music loud, kept his beer cold and was a very dominant force, if he wasn’t sleeping he was moving, he could never sit still and his inner turmoil finally caught up with him. He was an incredible son, husband, dad, brother and friend. He will live in our hearts forever. Gary is survived by his wife, Sadinia; parents, Jerry and Rita Watson of Fruita; son, Kaeden and daughter, Kenda, both of Fruita; brothers, Randy (Jessica) Abbott of Fruita, and Jeff Watson of Boise, ID; sister, Denise (Tony) Lopez of Gilbert, AZ; grandparents, Mary O'Connor of Fruita; Peggy Watson of Grand Junction; Tom Watson of Montrose, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo V. O'Connor.
