PAPP, Ethel M. – of Grand Blanc, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11824 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc with Fr. Jonathan Perrotta officiating. Interment New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation 11 am Wednesday until time of services at the church. Miss Papp was a graduate of Flint High School. She worked in the banking industry for a number of years in Cleveland, Ohio. She returned to the area to care for her family. The Papp family was known to thousands of Flint residents, especially on the North side. The family drug store, Papp Drugs, was located at Leith and St. John Street for more than 50 years. Miss Papp’s family helped many of the area residents by letting them charge medicine they could not afford. The daughter of Kolomon Papp, a Flint pharmacist for many years who came to Flint in 1917, Miss Papp was very proud of her well known siblings, sister Circuit Court Judge Elza H. Papp and brother Zoltan Papp, retired pharmacist and former president of the Hurley Hospital Board of Managers. Ethel was an honorary charter member of the Warwick Hills Colf and Country Club and was an avid golfer. She was a dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Surviving are: nephew, Douglas C. Papp; grandnieces, Diana Papp Page, and Deborah Papp Shaw; 5 great-grandnieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Robert and Jill Leach and Jeffry Rocco.
