Wilford (Bill) Booth Burks, Jr. was born in Davidson, Oklahoma on March 18, 1924. He was one of eleven children born to Tommie Pearl and Wilford Boot Burks. He passed away on March 22, 2012 with his family at his side.
Bill’s early years were spent in farming with his father. He attended Oklahoma A&M and served in the 99th Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. After he completed his military service, he was employed by Dow Chemical and became Vice-president of Dow Chemical Computers Worldwide.
Bill’s happiest years were spent in Horseshoe Bay enjoying his family and friends, gardening, playing tennis and cooking.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Wenona, sons Roy Wilford (Marianne), Richard Boothe (Karin) and grandchildren Marine Staff Sargent Matthew Wilford (Britni), Katheren Burks Johnson (James), Ryan Shea Burks, Ashley Shea Burks and great-grandson, Cade Philip Burks Ortega.
The family would like to thank our church family for all of their love and support. Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to The Church at Horseshoe Bay.
Graveside service was held Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Horseshoe Bay Mausoleum with Pete Christy officiating.
