Mrs. Edith Turley Baine of El Dorado, Arkansas passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born November 29, 1945 in Greenville, Mississippi, the daughter of Edith Waits Turley and George Turley. She graduated from Leland High School and the University of Mississippi where she received BAE and MAE degrees.
Mrs. Baine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado, El Dorado Service League, Phi Mu Sorority, and Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity International. She was a former member of the Board of Directors if the Union County Humane Society. She was an El Dorado Jaycettes and later became an El Dorado Jaycee.
She was a tree farmer and retired English teacher who taught in Mississippi and at El Dorado High School.
Mrs. Baine is survived by her husband James E. Baine, her son John A.Baine, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Baine, who reside in El Dorado. She was a loving wife and mother and will be sorely missed by all.
The family expresses its gratitude to caregivers Antoinette Lovett and Betty Jones who for many years assisted Mrs. Baine.
Visitation will be held on April 16 from 5-7 pm at Young’s Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado Tuesday, April 17 at 10 am with the Reverend Daniel Loomis officiating. Interment by Boone Funeral Home of Greenville, MS will follow at the Stoneville Cemetery in Stoneville, Mississippi at 4 pm with Dr. Jon Doler of First Baptist Church of Leland, Mrs. Baine’s childhood church, officiating.
