Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Louis and Alida (Chartier) Blanchard, she was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth.
Marie worked as a cook at the Sacred Heart Home. Following retirement, she worked in her son’s restaurant, the Village Galley in Padanaram.
She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, taking walks and watching “All in the Family”. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Furtado and her husband John of Dartmouth; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Blanchard; four grandchildren, Timothy Furtado and his wife Renee, Nicole Andrews and her husband David, Tara Blanchard and her husband Robert and Cheryl Dubois and her husband Neil; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hailey, Nicole and Alex; a sister-in-law, Mary Blanchard; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Donald and Philip Blanchard and sister of the late Gertrude Sheldon, Rita Lemery and Theresa Labrie.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 8AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 9AM in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Visiting hours Friday 5-8PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
