Buckley Clark Taylor, 56, of Spring, TX, passed away April 23, after a short illness. Bucky was born in Odessa, TX and educated at Permian High School, Austin College, and Baylor University. He was currently comptroller for W.M. Jones Ins. Co. in Houston.
Bucky loved his work and was an avid sports fan. At Permian he was a running back on the state championship team in '72. As a sophomore on the track team he set records that lasted until the measurements were changed from yards to meters. It was important to him to keep teammates and friends together in their adult years. He often scheduled reunions of groups. Bucky was most importantly a family man, cooking and entertaining his family and friends often. As a teenager he worked as a disc jockey for station KOCV and helped introduce Rock and Roll to that station.
Bucky is predeceased by his father, Byron Glen (Jug) Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laura; daughter, Estee Dunkin and husband, Jason; son, Buckley Clark Taylor Jr. and girlfriend Sara Fowler; grandsons, Layne and Landen Harcrow; his mother, Thelda Taylor of Odessa; brother, Byron Taylor III of Odessa and mother-in-law, Shirley Dailey of Humble. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25 from 5-8 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and a funeral service is planned for Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10 AM at Spring Baptist Church, 1027 Spring Cypress Rd, Spring, TX 77373.
Pallbearers include Bob McDougal, Tommy Ervin, Randy Huston, Bill Cramer, John Hatten and Donald Murray.
