BOB ABERNATHY, a resident of Dallas for over 56 years, passed from this life April 25, 2012, in Denison, Texas. Mr. Abernathy was born September 18, 1923, at Opal, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Pauline Abernathy. He is survived by his daughter, Janis Abernathy, of Scotland, and his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Barbara Abernathy, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Mr. Abernathy had three grandchildren, Ron and Kristy Abernathy of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Don Abernathy, Jr., of Cumming, Georgia. Mr. Abernathy had one great-grandson, Will Abernathy of Cumming, Georgia. He leaves a neighbor Friend, Wyanetta Macon. Mr. Abernathy served in World War II as a flight instructor in the Naval Air Corp. After the war he earned a degree in business from the University of Arkansas, coming to Dallas in 1953. He was Part Owner and Vice President of Atlas Architectural Metals on Lovett Street. Honorary pallbearers will be Arlan Tate, Jim Martin, and Kenneth Odle. Mr. Abernathy was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ for 55 years. He was a sincere Christian man. He was loved by all who knew him. Services will be held at the Grove Hill Funeral Home, 2:00pm Saturday, April 28, 2012, with Visitation from 12:00 noon - 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
