Ernie was born May 12, 1931 in Winlock, WA. To Marinas and Freida (Reinke) Conradi. He attended Evaline School for 7 years before his family moved to Tucker Road at Ethel, WA. He went to the Toledo schools graduating in 1949. Ernie was in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 serving in Korea during the Korean war.
He worked on a dairy farm after leaving the Navy and went on to work for Grayston Redi-Mix Concrete in Centralia, drove truc for 15yr at System 99, worked for The Boeing Co in Renton, WA., and retired from The Reynolds Co. in Lynnwood, WA. 1993. He and his wife Mareliene moved to Silver Creek, WA. In 1994.
Ernie served as Master of the Silver Creek/Ethel Grange # 150, past Master of the Lewis County Pomona Grange #3, and past Commander of the American Legion Post in Morton, WA. He was also active as a member in the American Legion Post in Onalaska, WA., 40 & 8 Club, Chehalis Eagles, affiliate member of the Cowlitz Prairie Grange and a member of the Church of God in Onalaska.
Ernie married Mareliene Hammond in 1993 in Lynnwood, WA Together they enjoyed attending Ernie’s Naval Reunions with his Navy buddies from the USS Toledo. He also enjoyed bowling and followed the Seattle Mariners.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Tanner Conradi and Mareliene’s son, Donald Hammond.
Ernie is survived by the children of his first marriage to Marilyn Steele. They are Gene (Connie) of Spokane, Jerry of Issaquah and Lisa in Florida, 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Mareliene Conradi and his extended family with her, Kathy (David) Bannon of Lynnwood, and Neil Hammond of Seattle. Brothers, Harold (Jean) of Castle Rock, Jim of Centralia, and sister Mary Skinner of Onalaska and many friends from the American Legion, the Eagles and the various granges.
The family requests all donations be sent to the Salkum Fire Department in Salkum, WA.
Services are under the direction of Brown Mortuary, Morton.
