Bill was born January 25, 1927 in WaKeeney, Kansas to John and Gladys Scott-Stallard. He grew up and attended schools in Lakin, Kansas. At 16 years of age he enlisted in the United States Navy and spent two years during World War II aboard the USS Hogett Bay in the South Pacific. On Janurary 4, 1948 he married Helen Ridgeway and they spent 64 years together. At that time he went to work for Colorado Interstate Gas Company in Lakin and in 1956 he was transferred to the office in Colorado Springs. With a four year assignment in Cody, Wyoming, managing Cody Gas Company, he spent 42 years with CIG and retired as a Director in 1990.
Since retirement he continued his long love of horses and spent his time by volunteering for the many organizations that he was already much involved with. He taught 4-H and AQHA youth horsemanship for 16 years, was on the steering committee for the El Paso Horse program, sponsored the 4-H Catch-a-Calf program for 20 years, was president of the Pikes Peak Quarter Horse Association. He was a 40 year member of the Pikes Peak Range Riders and rode with the Pikes Peak Range Rider Pivots for 30 years. He was a longtime volunteer of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo where he served as a Ramrod and later as a member of the Board of Directors as vice-president and then as president.
Bill is survived by his wife Helen, two children, Steven Scott and Marla Dahlberg and her husband Gregg, two grandchildren, Scott Dahlberg and Kami Dahlberg.
Bill be will be remembered as a true cowboy who loved horses and the cowboy way.
