Virgil is survived by three brothers, Joe, Babe and Bill, two sons, Mark McBlair and wife Lois of Midwest City, Terry McBlair and wife Kathy of Norman, three grandchildren and six great grand children. Virgil was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruby.
Virgil joined the U.S. Navy on January 2, 1942. He obtained the rank of Torpedo’s Mate second class. He saw combat duty in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of WWII. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Virgil was honorably discharged from the Navy on December 13, 1945.
Virgil returned to his hometown of Enid, Oklahoma, where he worked at Champlin’s Refinery for twenty years as a test engine mechanic. Virgil moved to Oklahoma City in 1966, where he owned and operated a Mobil filling station. He stayed very busy taking care of his many customers. Virgil was an excellent automobile mechanic and welder.
Virgil was a compassionate and dedicated husband to Ruby; he became her caregiver and never left her side until she passed. Virgil loved his family and he was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and sharing memories of his life with others. The world will be a lesser place without his sense of humor and wit. Virgil was a Hero to many and he will be greatly missed.
