Louise Andrews Coker was born in Fountain Inn, S.C., on August 23, 1914, and passed away at her home on Friday, May 4 at the age of 97. She was the daughter of the late David Thornburg Andrews and Pearl Armstrong Andrews. Mrs. Coker attended Fountain Inn High School and Limestone College before marrying the late J. Edwin Coker. In 1944, Mr. and Mrs. Coker moved to Atlanta with their son, the late David Lee Coker. She was a devoted homemaker who designed and sewed costumes for the Atlanta Figure Skating Club and was a freelance caterer. Mrs. Coker served as president of the South Carolina Club of Atlanta and was a member of the Skylarks Travel Club. She was a faithful member of the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church where she served as president of the Pioneer-Fidelius Sunday School Class. Mrs. Coker is predeceased by her husband, Edwin, her son, David, and her four siblings, Mildred Andrews Bullard, George Thomas Andrews, David Thornburn Andrews Jr., and Kenneth Theodore Andrews. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Beverly Butler (David) Coker; two grandchildren, Barrett Coker (Edward) Krise and David Lee (Cecilie) Coker, Jr.; great grandchildren, Tobias Zwick Coker and Helena Zwick Coker; nieces Camille Diane (Gary) Humphries, Carol Lynn Durham, Sarah Andrews (Paul) Rook, Ann Coker (Thomas) Mondok, Sara Virginia (Steve) Grayson; nephews George Thomas Andrews, Jr. and Robert S. (Virginia) Coker, and her devoted companion Ghislaine Mukesharugo. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church or the organization of your choice.
