BABALA, John – Age 89, of Grand Blanc, died Friday, June 1, 2012 at his home. Mr. Babala was born December 22, 1922 in Emmett, MI the son of Metro and Polly (Szawaga) Babala. He served his country during W.W.II with the Army Air Corps. John received his Electrical Engineering Degree, BEE and MBA from the University of Detroit. He was General Manager of Harlan Electric and then founded Hammer & Smith Electric in Flint where he worked until he retired. Surviving are children, Diane Babala, Laura Babala and husband Ralph Money, John and wife Marcella Babala, Mark and wife Angela Babala; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Babala was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Marion Babala, brother Mike Babala and sister Anna Jones. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI. A Scripture Service will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday June 7, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Father Steve Anderson will officiate.
