From her early years Dana was full of life,a very outgoing person. She proved as a child she was determined and independent one who would do things her way. This attitude proved to serve her well in life. Dana was a devout christian, giving unselfishly and often denying herself simple pleasures in life, so her family and others might have what she felt they deserved. Throughout her life Dana never met a person she didn't consider a friend, she never gave up on or spoke harshly of others.Dana had the ability to see good in others, even when they couldn't see it in themselves. Shortly after high school Dana married her high school sweetheart Bill and in 1976 they welcomed a daughter Staci into the world.Dana and Bill left their hometown seeking to make their mark on life.Things weren't to be for them and they parted ways, although they remained friends for life.Dana often worked multiple jobs to provide a better life for her family.Dana had a desire to see the world, and wanting to serve her country, she entered the Air Force Reserve in 1985. Dana arrived at Barksdale A.F.B., La. in 1986. I met Dana when she arrived their and we became friends. Realizing we were meant to be more than friends we married in October ,1988.She again proved how unselfish she could be by accepting my family of 3 daughters and a son from a previous marriage as her family. The summer of 1989 we welcomed our son Chance into the world. He has proven to be quite a man determined and independent like his mother. He continues to make his mother proud. Dana lived for her family, our family of 4 Daughters,2sons,16 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, and one due in August. They were her reason for life itself.Dana had a passion for gardening, and it earned her the nickname "My Indiana Gardener" from me.Dana amazed me with her seemingly impossible tasks she performed on plants.Among the many wonders I witnessed her perform is one I will never forget. We had a rather large container of Christmas Cactus starting to set blooms. My Dana wanted to change their color upon questioning her on how she would achieve this I was told to watch. Then to my amazement she proceeded to rub the stamen from a rose on the unopened blooms, she did this with stamens from several different colored roses. Then to my amazement when they opened we had several different colored cactus blooms in one pot.Dana's desire for education was never ending and led her down many avenues from Electrician to small engine repair to locksmith and finally to college level courses in the computer field. Dana's love for the outdoors led her into Photography,Hiking, camping, fishing, and rock climbing. When we lived near the Fort Worth Nature Center summer would bring the wild critters out in search of food. True to her christian belief we are all God's creation, she would spread a quilt on the ground every evening and hand feed these animals corn or what ever we had. This earned her another nickname from me "Ellie Mae of the Beverly Hillbillies show. Dana was a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan. This was hard for her as Chance and I don't like the Cowboys, we would often get her in between us on the couch and needle her about the Boys until she usually got up and went to do something else. We would always tease and pick on her about different things, she never let it bother her, in fact she learned how to pick back at us and say what is the matter can't you take your own medicine.Dana "My Angel" you gave me 26 of the happiest fun filled memorable years any man could ask for. Although your life was tragically cut short I know you are in a far better place, you will be deeply missed by me family and friends. Remember our promise to each other to walk through eternity together, walk slow darling and one day when you turn around I will be there to continue our journey together.
