Born in Westport, Massachusetts, son of the late Stephen and Katarzyna (Lenart) Bielski, he spent his youth in Westport, lived in Marshfield for many years, and had lived in Dartmouth for the past three years.
A graduate of Dartmouth High School, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bridgewater State Teacher’s College. He also studied Geology at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for the Scituate Public Schools where he taught Earth Science for many years before retiring.
Mr. Bielski was a member of the Massachusetts Archaeological Society and was a collector of Native American artifacts. His extensive collection currently resides in the Robbins Museum of Archaeology in Middleborough, MA.
He is survived by one daughter; Barbara Chase and her husband Michael of Wilmette, IL, one son; Stephen Bielski and his wife Deb Muise of Ashland, MA, two brothers; Stephen Bielski of Dartmouth, MA and Armand Bielski of Uxbridge, MA, one sister; Jean Adamowski of Plymouth, MA, two grandchildren; Jason LaPenta and his wife Cynthia Barber of Wayland, MA and David Bielski of Ashland, MA, one great granddaughter; Vivien LaPenta and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Nellie Benbenek and Irene Polchlopek.
His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at Dartmouth 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hour prior to his service from 10 to 11 AM. Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004. Burial private.
