A much loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Song Bowen, 81, of Torrance, California, passed away on July 3, 2012, with his devoted family near. He bravely confronted and fought colon cancer starting June 2009.
Song Bowen was born to parents Song Man Soo and Song Baek Shee on May 24, 1931, in Seoul, Korea. Song has always been an example of poise and strength. He served in the ROK Marines, bravely standing by the people of Korea and the United States. In 1950 Song was sponsored and invited by the Bowen family to live in the United States.
Song was a valued friend, cultivating life-long relationships as a well-established bartender and service manager for over 30 years in the South Bay. His humble passion for family and adventure led to an active lifestyle. Song enjoyed traveling with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and regularly enjoyed long contemplative afternoon walks, evening nights of poker, and treating his family to his delicious recipes.
Song Bowen is survived by his wife, 75, Mihwa Bowen, and his children Ila, Elane, Rosie, Michelle, and Daphne; his grandchildren Leslie and husband Theo, Kevin, Marley, Danielle, Rochelle, and Alexander; his brother Won Il Song and wife In Ja Song; nephews Eddie and Jason Song, and niece Joyce Song.
