Ron was born at home on November 9, 1935 in Vacherie (St. James Parish) Louisiana. His parents were Laura Marie Amedee and Elmore Francois Abadie. His family lived on the Valcour Aime’s property where his Maternal Grandfather was the Overseer of that Sugar Cane Plantation. As a young boy, Ron enjoyed exploring the overgrown 125 plus year remnants of 'Louis the XIV of Louisiana's’ property which still held exotic plants, beautiful flowers, small animals, rivers, bridges and a prayer cave. At St. James High School, Ron enjoyed his studies, played baritone and trombone in the school band where he was Band Club President, enjoyed speech contests, was elected President of his Junior Class, went to the Pelican Boys State, and was Vice President and Valedictorian of his senior class in 1954. After serving in the U.S. Army, Ron studied at LSU in Baton Rouge, achieving a B.A. Degree in German in 1961, and a B.S. in General Science in 1962. In November 1962 he married the love of his life, Lois Schmidt, who he met while in college and settled down in New Orleans, LA. With the GI bill Ron earned a J.D. Degree in 1970 from Loyola University in New Orleans. Throughout his life, Ron enjoyed continually learning, avidly read mysteries, and was fond of listening to a variety of music and collected Classical, Big Bang Music and Frank and Ella’s records. He was employed for thirty-five years with OSHA - a section of the U.S. Labor Department which brought him to their Regional Office for in Dallas in 1975. He helped interpret congressional intent for 11C Complaints and effectively communicated a format for investigations that was spread throughout the U.S. In retirement he enjoyed additional travel and precious time with his children and their families. Above all, Ronald Abadie was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and is survived by his wife of 49 years, his daughter Karen Theresa Miller of San Antonio, FL, his son Marc Justin Abadie of League City, TX and three grandchildren he dearly loved: Emily Rachael Miller, Laura Marie Miller and Morgan Josephine Abadie.
