Frederick F. Amweg 98, of Whiting, passed away Sunday August 19th, at Crestwood Manor in Whiting, NJ. Fred was born and raised in West New York, NJ and lived in New Milford, NJ and Jackson , NJ before moving to Crestwood Manor in 1999. Fred served as a Captain in the Army during World War II. He was a decorator with Fetzer & Company in New York City for over 25 years retiring in 1979. He was a former member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in New Milford and currently a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Whiting.
In Fred's younger years he played saxophone in a dance band and later enjoyed bowling and golf.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years M. Helene Amweg, two sons Robert Amweg of Yardley, PA., James Amweg of Winston Salem, NC, and a daughter Eileen Simpkins of Aurora, OH. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 AM at Crestwood Manor, 50 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ. The committal service will be Friday, September 7th at 3:00 PM at the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ.
