Alvis, Robert C., Sr., age 76, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2012. He was born in Morristown and grew up in Kingsport before moving to Knoxville in 1956. Robert was a member of Gospel Baptist Church where he thoroughly enjoyed working there doing whatever needed to be done. For most of his life Robert was known for his precise auto upholstery for which he won many awards. He was a member of the Smoky Mt. Antique Engine and Tractor Club. He made many friends through his ownership of a 1902 Cadillac replica. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Grace; sister, Ruby, and brother, Paul. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Wanda Alvis; daughter, Angie Wood, son, Robert Alvis, Jr., granddaughter, Jennifer Wood who he adored; one grandson; sister, Bessie Delozier; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM, Rev. Rocky Glenn and Rev. I.A. Sparks officiating. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home on Friday, August 31st at 12:15 PM to go in procession to Highland South Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment service.
