William J. Achors (87) of Orlando, FL passed away on September 5, 2012. Bill was born in Greene County, Indiana on June 21, 1925. He was a graduate of Rossville High School. He married Gladys Smith on Feb. 21 1952. They lived most of their lives in the central Indiana area where he was a farmer prior to making his carrier path in banking at the Farmers Bank in Frankfort, IN. Later, banking opportunities led him to Purdue National Bank in Lafayette, IN. and as far away as Pheonix, AZ. In time they owned a real estate and insurance agency in Rossville, IN. Eventually he returned to banking in Cape Coral, FL and then to Longboat Key, FL where he continued his banking carrier until retirement.
Bill along with his wife, who he loving called Sue, had a full retirement playing golf and enjoying the friendship of his retirement community in Ocala, FL and later Orlando. He was an enthusiastic gardener taking great pride in his yard. To this day when we see a leaf fall or a flower bloom we think of him, knowing he is watching over the garden. He was a loving devoted husband, caring and supportive father and a fun, full of love grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys (Smith) of Orlando, FL; two sons, William Achors and Steve Achors both in Florida; five grandchildren, Michael Achors (FL), Adam Achors (currently in the Army), Sherrie Achors (NY), Britt Achors (FL) and Nicholas Achors (FL). He was preceded in death by his four brothers; Cyril, Herman, Kenneth and Orval and two sisters; Nellie Mason and Ina M. Long.
His wishes were for cremation and a simple grave side service to celebrate his life and return home to God. Graveside services will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery, 496 W. County Rd. 200 South, Frankfort, IN 46041, on Sept 29, 2012 at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the Rossville Presbyterian Church, 5434 W. State Rd. 26, Rossville, IN 46065, at 12:30. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Rossville Presbyterian Church.
