Jeanie was born in Palestine, TX on May 13, 1953. She is survived by her husband Evan Barton of Copperas Cove; daughter Laura Celeste Vanderpoel and son-in-law Dan Vanderpoel of Copperas Cove and son Michael Gordon Alexander and daughter-in-law Amy Alexander of Belton; 4 grandchildren: Jacob Therman Alexander of Belton, Alyssa Nicole Vanderpoel of Copperas Cove, Zachary Michael Alexander of Belton and Emily Grace Vanderpoel of Copperas Cove; mother Wilma Laverne Pate Alexander of Copperas Cove; six sisters and brothers-in-law: Darla Jeanette and Ron Duckworth of Crawford, Maudie Ann and David McKinney of Fort Worth, Jan and Sam Coltharp of Copperas Cove, Docia Laverne and Gene Craft of Pflugerville, Audrey Jo and Earl Davis of Woodway and Laura Kay and Larry Miller of Hillsboro. She was adored by 14 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews. Jeanie will be missed by those who loved her more than words will ever express. She is preceded in death by her father 1SG (Ret) Therman Alexander who passed away on Feb 14, 2002.
Jeanie was employed for 32 years with the US Federal government and was the Director of Army Community Service at the time of her death. It was her honor and privilege to serve the Soldiers and Families of the Fort Hood community.
Visitation will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Copperas Cove from 6–8 p.m. Thursday 27 September.
Memorial Service will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday 28 September with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Wheelock Cemetery, Leon County Texas.
