Born on April 1, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late William B. Cargo and Bertha Helen Palmer. Mr. Cargo was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Charlotte and Our Redeemer Lutheran in McMurray, PA previously. Stan served in the US Army during WWII, receiving several commendations, and fought in the “Battle of the Bulge.” Stan was a member of the Mason Lodge 45, VFW 764, and United Association 449, each for over 60 years. He enjoyed working with his hands and was generally a “Mr. Fix-It.” He enjoyed walking with his wife & friends at the mall and was know for his wit and humor.
A funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 10AM, Friday, October 12th at The Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with the Rev. Ward Misenheimer of Advent Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, October 11th, at the funeral home.
Mr. Cargo is survived by his wife, Anice Adams Cargo; a son, Mark A. Cargo and wife, Karen, of Charlotte; one sister, Gail Treusch and husband George, of Asheville and six grandchildren, Maria, Erik, Nick, Kelly, Brandy and Krystal.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cargo was preceded in death by a son, Stanley P. Cargo, Jr. and a brother, William B. Cargo.
