She will be remembered for the bright light of her spirit, as witnessed by the smile she left us. Sharon was famous for her positive attitude, her generosity and the warmth of her feeling for everyone.
Descended from Athens' historic Lumpkin family, Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Marion Lumpkin Jones, and her grandparents, Brian and Lovey Lumpkin (all of Athens). Sharon is survived by her father, William W. Pursell, Sr. and stepmother, Julie Pursell, Ellen Spicer (Jordan) and her daughter, Maggie Spicer, brother, William W. Pursell, Jr. (Helen) and their children Chloe Rawls, and Allison and Ian Pursell (all of Nashville); sister, Margaret Fernandez (Jess), sister, Laura Byrnes (David) (all of Los Angeles); beloved cousin, Stephani Foss, her daughter, Berry Maistru and grandchildren, Gwen and Patrick (all of Athens); and cousin, Brad Foss (Barbara), of Washington DC.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, at Oconee Hill Cemetery, On Sunday, October 7. There will be a celebration of her life following the service at 625 North Billups St., Athens, GA 30606.
