Loren Blain Duncan, Sr., 81of Iola, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the College Station Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:30a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2201 Rio Grande, College Station. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, with full military honors.
He was born June 18, 1931 in Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia, the son of Lewis Mannan Duncan Sr. and Georgia Edna (Johnson) Duncan. Loren proudly served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. By trade, he was an aircraft electrician and retired from Pan-American World Airways after many dedicated years of service. Loren was active in his community, and a friend to all. He volunteered his time advocating for improved roads in Grimes County and was a member of the American Legion, Earl Graham Post 159 in Bryan, where he served on the Honor Guard.
Loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, he will be dearly missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Earle) Duncan; his first wife and mother of his children, Freda M. Duncan; 5 children, Loren Blain Duncan, Jr., Teresa Rose Trenck, Cheryl Lynne Minchew and her husband John, Holly Edna Duncan, and Laura Lee Gonzalez; and 3 step-children; a sister, Nancy Roberta Bright; 11 grandchildren and 9 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one step- great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank Dr. Erin Fleener and her staff for the care special care given to Mr. Duncan and his family.
