Pauline Strickland Dupree Burnham, age 88, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, 11 a.m. with Reverend Jimmy Duke officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Burnham, daughter of the late Charlie and Ada Belle Strickland, was born December 13, 1923 in Grady County, GA. She was retired from Parisian’s, and had worked previously at Swift Manufacturing, Trapnell Shoes, Kiralfys, and Kirvens. Mrs. Burnham was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and Good News Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby Lee Dupree and Clarence B. Burnham; four brothers, Leonard C. Strickland, Arthur Strickland, Mansen Strickland, and Council Strickland; and one sister, Maudie Strickland Williams. Mrs. Burnham is survived by two daughters, Betty Jean Lindsey and her husband Robert of Columbus and Barbara Belle Stevenson and her husband Billy of Islandton, SC; three grandsons, Bobby Lindsey of Columbus, David Stevenson and his wife Mary Frances of Charleston, SC, and Bill Stevenson of Buford, SC; two great-granddaughters, Katie Stevenson and Elaine Stevenson; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Joe Bressler of Columbus; other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Magnolia Manor Assisted Living and caregivers on Three North at St. Francis Hospital for the loving care given to our mother.
